I know this is strange but while driving to work this morning I started thinking about horror movies, and how everyone always runs from the bad guy. Of course, who wouldn't run from a guy in a leather mask weilding a chainsaw? Or a man with a burned face and knives for fingers? But I started wondering, "What if they just turned around and said, 'Hey, what's really going on here?'" You know, just confront the monster/bad guy/villian already and talk it out.
"Why are you trying to kill me?"
"Um, well, because, I died a horrible death at the hands of a mad man."
"Am I that mad man?"
"Well, no, you're not."
"So why are you after me? Why are you transposing your hatred of that mad man onto me?"
"Um, I dunno, because."
"'Because?' That's your only answer? 'Because?'"
"Uh, yeah, I guess it is... say, can you start running again so I can keep chasing you with my chainsaw?"
"No, we're going to talk this thing out, have a seat. Now, tell me about this mad man... what happened?"
LATER...
"I think we've really made some break throughs today, why don't we talk again tomorrow and we'll work on your anger management issues, okay? And remember, don't take out your anger on other people, okay? Senseless killing of teenagers camping in the woods won't fill that empty hole you feel inside. Okay?"
Okay, okay, so if it was me I'd probably keep running, too.
that was then - this is now
