When Jeb was out of town I was using his car, which required me to carry his car keys in addition to mine. That was kind of bulky because his car requires a key and a remote, whereas my car only requires a key. So when Jeb got home I asked him, "When you bought your car did you get a second remote?" He said he couldn't remember but he didn't think he did, why was I asking? I explained that it would be easier if I just had a set of my own so I didn't have to borrow his keys whenever I needed to drive his car. "You don't need a set," he said in the tone that indicated he was afraid if I had a set I'd drive his car all the time. So I dropped the subject and said nothing more of it.

Then last night, while lying on the couch watching TV, Jeb came downstairs and said to me, "Here's the other set" as he gave to me the second key and remote that he had found upstairs in his car paperwork.

My husband has given me my own set of keys to his car. It's love.

I know that sounds really stupid, huh, getting excited over having my own set of keys to his car? But not really, considering all we've been through in our marriage. It's a sign of healing, of the strengthening of our relationship. To everyone else it might just be a key, but to me it's a token of us reconnecting.

And it's also a car with heated seats and power windows! :)

that was then - this is now
