Let's see, where shall I start? Okay, to begin with, things are getting better with Jeb every day. It's a long road ahead for everything to get better again, but we're working on it and I feel so much happier about our relationshp now. We both have things to work on - our demolition was both our faults - and it will take time, but my heart is filled with gladness now, where once there was only sadness.
My birthday is on Wednesday, and since Jeb is out of town he gave me my present before he left. A Sony Clie' PDA! Yeah! He totally surprised me with that one because I usually drop so many not so subtle hints about my gift wishes and that wasn't one of them. But he knows I covet his PDA and love playing all the games on it, so he got me my own! I love it, even though I don't have any games yet. I write my to do lists on there, write myself little memos, use the calculator. I'm so excited about my new toy, it's funny. And of course I went on ebay and won myself a nice, black leather Coach PDA case. I mean, I can't afford new Coach items yet, that will come much later in life when the house is paid off and the kids are grown... so I have to get my Coach used at this point. But that's okay. I'm excited about my new PDA and my Coach case. Go me!
And speaking of birthdays... I celebrated with my family yesterday at Red Robin (they have the best apple crisp dessert I've ever tasted) and that was fun. Since I couldn't make up my mind about what I wanted for presents, everyone just gave me money or gift certificates (hello Target!). And my Mom gave me this baby carriage blanket that she had started making for me back in 1972 but lost and didn't find again until earlier this year. I never knew she had started and lost a blanket for me so when I opened the gift bag and read the card that had the story about it in there, I was so thrilled. It wasn't just some blanket she made me... it was a blanket she had started making for me the year I WAS BORN! Hello, vintage classic here, folks. It was beautiful. I'll put the story up here some time.
So yeah, I had some money and gift certificates to spend so I went to Target and picked up a few things. Then I hit the mall with no luck, and then Ross, with a little luck. Some cute odds and ends for now. I still have some birthday money left and I'm trying to decide what I want. (I already got my 13 Going On 30 movie which was one of the hot items I wanted (it's not quite Never Been Kissed but it comes in second to it).
Then, for Halloween, I kept all the lights off in the house and stayed in the den watching TV so I didn't have to pass out candy. I can't really afford to spend ooddles of money on strange kids and I didn't want to pass it out alone - Jeb and I usually take turns but since he's out of town I was left with the sole responsibility to shell out Snickers bars to miniature pirates and ghosts and ballerinas, and thirteen year old chumps who can't even put on a costume but still expect candy simply because they knock on my door and say, "Trick or Treat." What. Ever. So I hid from them all and spent the night watching cheesy TV with the dogs.
All in all I'd say it was a good weekend.
that was then - this is now
