Last night's dream... I was going back to work for the law firm I used to work for in DC. I went there with this guy that was hanging around me who sort of looked like Ray Romano. He was acting like he was my boyfriend but everyone there knew I had gotten married only a year ago and here's he's talking about when he and I will get married. I didn't want to embarrass him in front of everyone by shouting, "Are you on crack?! I'm married already and it's not to you! Go away!" so I tried to do that ignore technique where you don't really respond to someone's statements, hoping they'll get the hint. Then he tells the firm that he's going to sue them if they don't give him more money for some job they paid him for. I get embarrassed because he's making a big deal out of this and sounding really immature and I'm thinking, "Why is this guy hanging out with me?!" Anyway, so I finally leave the office and somehow get lost in DC, and this guy is following me and won't go away. I am suddenly topless (?) and walking with my arms folded over my chest because how safe can it be to walk through DC topless? I come upon three cops on the street and catch up to them, hoping they'll keep me safe, only it appears they're on their way home from a night out drinking and they're all three sheets to the wind. They aren't much help as I say, "Are we anywhere near the Washington monument?" They didn't know. Suddenly I recognize some landmark and say, "Hey, we're in Arlington!" and feel secure knowing that my brother lives in Arlington. Sure enough, I spot him in his big silver truck across the street and go yelling for him. Creepy guy still following me. Somehow we end up at my mom's house and creepy guy is still there, trying to hang out with me. I end up struggling with him, trying to fight him off but he's persistent and won't leave me alone. I freak out. My brother goes out there and starts attacking him, like violently. I see blood spurting out like it does in the video games, bright red and splattering everywhere. I shout at my brother to stop but he doesn't and I'm afraid the creepy guy will die or at least end up messed up and suing my brother. It gets foggy from there but after that I think he bought my sister's truck from her and we could hear him outside trying to start it and he was having trouble. "Just let him go," I said, "at least he's leaving. Who cares about the truck."
It was creepy. Violent. Scary. I'd much rather dream about puppies and rainbows.
that was then - this is now
