August 17, 2004
I'm going back to school. I have already ordered my transcripts from my last school and have applied today for the community college in Maryland. I won't start classes until the Spring but I'm getting enrolled and sitting down with a counselor (in September) to plot my collegiate future. So there. It's starting. In other news, my Grandmother finally passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 8:15 a.m. While we are all in sorrow for her passing, we are relieved to know she is in a better place and is no longer suffering. Services were held that Monday, the 9th. That same weekend, two soldiers in my brother's National Guard unit were killed when their humvee was bombed. An interpreter was also killed and another soldier wounded. When my brother was first stationed in Afghanistan everyone said to me, "Oh it's better to be in Afghanistan than Iraq" but apparently danger really knows no boundaries. Finally, I've been staying at my own house more often lately. It will be interesting to see how things are a year from now - to look back on today and think "Wow, look how far I've come." At least I hope that's what will happen.
that was then - this is now
